Cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) is one of the most common craniofacial malformations; in this condition, feeding is compromised from birth due to a lack of coordination between the infant’s sucking, swallowing, and breathing, which affects their growth and nutritional status. The objective of this study was to describe feeding methods and the main difficulties faced by children aged 0 to 8 years with CLP treated at a foundation in the state of Puebla, Mexico. A prospective, observational, descriptive, and cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted on a sample of 51 mothers using a structured questionnaire, validated by experts, to collect sociodemographic, clinical, and feeding management variables. The use of formula via bottles, such as the squeezable bottle and Haberman Feeder, was predominant. Mothers reported ineffective oral latch and the presence of coughing as the main difficulties. Nearly half of the participants received guidance from nursing staff. Anatomical characteristics influence feeding technique and breastfeeding success. The findings suggest the importance of strengthening professional training and early support to optimize feeding management for this population.
