Estimated Editorial Processing Times

The editorial processing times of MENTOR Revista de Investigación Educativa y Deportiva are estimates and may vary depending on the characteristics of the manuscript, the availability of specialized reviewers, revisions requested from authors, and the specific requirements of each evaluation process.

Editorial Screening and Peer Review

From manuscript submission to the first editorial decision following external peer review, the process is generally estimated to take between one and six months.

This period includes the initial editorial screening, similarity screening, the selection and acceptance of invitations by at least two independent external reviewers, double-blind peer review, and editorial assessment of the review reports received.

The process may take longer when a third review is required because of substantial differences between reviewer reports, when major revisions are requested, when the manuscript requires an additional round of peer review, or when ethical, methodological, or research-integrity matters require further clarification.

The stated timeframes are estimates and do not constitute a guarantee of acceptance or of a decision within a fixed period.

Revisions Requested from Authors

When revisions are requested, authors must submit a revised version of the manuscript together with a reasoned response to the comments received within the deadline communicated by the editorial team.

Unless a different deadline is specified in the editorial communication, authors will have up to thirty calendar days to submit the revised version.

Where duly justified circumstances exist, an extension may be requested before the established deadline expires.

Minor revisions may be verified by the editorial team when no further specialized scientific assessment is required. Manuscripts requiring major revisions may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.

Editorial Production after Acceptance

Once a manuscript has been accepted, it enters the editorial production stage, which may include copyediting, language and translation review where applicable, verification of references and DOIs, metadata review, layout, author proofs, and final quality control.

The duration of this stage depends on the length and complexity of the manuscript, the corrections required, and the journal’s editorial schedule.

Acceptance of an article does not imply immediate publication.

Accepted articles are scheduled according to MENTOR’s editorial planning. The journal publishes three regular issues per year, in January, May, and September. Special issues may also be published according to the journal’s editorial planning.

Editorial Delays

Where a significant delay occurs in relation to the estimated timeframes, MENTOR will inform the corresponding author of the situation and, where possible, provide an updated estimate of the process.

If authors do not wish to continue the editorial process because of a significant delay, they may request withdrawal of the manuscript provided that it has not yet been accepted for publication.

Transparency of Editorial Timelines

MENTOR promotes transparency in monitoring its editorial processes. Submission, acceptance, and publication dates should be recorded and displayed in published articles where applicable.

Editorial processing times will be periodically reviewed on the basis of the journal’s actual workflow so that the information published reasonably reflects the effective duration of the editorial process.
