Tasks of the Journal Contributors

Mentor Revista de Investigación Educativa y Deportiva seeks to ensure the correct adherence to editorial publication processes based on best practices for the various editorial procedures.

Below are the tasks undertaken by the collaborators of Mentor Revista de Investigación Educativa y Deportiva.

Author: Represents the community of national and international researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and individuals interested in publishing the results of their research in the fields of education and sports.

National and International Editorial Committee: Responsible for organizing editorial guidelines and policies to ensure the quality of scientific publications aligned with the journal's objectives. They also ensure good ethical practices and establish strategic guidelines. The committee meets every three months.

Director: Responsible for the following functions:

  1. Editorial management.
  2. Monthly meetings.
  3. Establishing and changing publication types.
  4. Setting criteria for evaluating editorial proposals.
  5. Setting peer review policies.
  6. Establishing guidelines to ensure the visibility of publications.
  7. Ensuring the quality of publications meets the standards of major indicators and bibliographic databases.
  8. Deciding on the number of articles per issue.
  9. Supporting the work of the Editor-in-Chief.
  10. Preparing periodic publications and monitoring compliance with the established evaluation processes.
  11. Ensuring authors comply with concepts, suggestions, and corrections.

Editor-in-Chief: Leads the editorial processes of the journal's publishing unit, acting as the editorial manager responsible for promoting and coordinating editorial processes.

Editorial Coordinator: Plans and monitors editorial projects, manages the writing, submission, and reception of articles from authors.

Coordinator of the Reviewers' Council: Selects reviewers for each scientific article, prevents poor quality and readability issues, ensures publication guidelines are followed, and provides support certifications to evaluators.

Coordinator of the Scientific Committee: Participates with the editorial committee in formulating editorial policy, advises the editorial committee on setting quality criteria for educational and sports topics, invites recognized members of international institutions to publish their articles in the journal, and promotes the journal at events, conferences, and dissemination spaces.

Double-Blind Reviewer: Specialists in the thematic area of the proposed work, responsible for providing feedback that determines whether the work is published. Their functions include:

  1. Ensuring the topic aligns with the journal's lines.
  2. Evaluating the originality, novelty, and interest of the topic.
  3. Observing formal requirements.
  4. Accepting publication conditions.

Coordinator of the Ethics Committee: Has several key responsibilities, including:

  • Research Ethics Review: Evaluating the ethical aspects of submitted manuscripts to ensure the research was conducted ethically and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Ensuring Scientific Integrity: Verifying that the data and results presented in the articles are accurate and have not been manipulated or falsified.
  • Confidentiality: Maintaining the confidentiality of reviewed manuscripts and the identities of authors and reviewers during the peer review process.
  • Conflict of Interest: Identifying and managing any conflicts of interest that may arise among authors, reviewers, and editors.
  • Informed Consent: Ensuring that studies involving human subjects obtained proper informed consent and followed data protection protocols.
  • Ethical Use of Animals: Verifying that studies involving animals adhered to ethical standards and guidelines for the treatment and care of animals.
  • Plagiarism and Originality: Detecting and addressing cases of plagiarism, ensuring that works are original and have not been previously published in other journals without proper reference.
  • Publication Decisions: Assisting in making decisions regarding the acceptance, rejection, or need for revision of manuscripts based on ethical criteria.
  • Advising: Providing guidance and advice on ethical issues to editors, reviewers, and authors.
  • Policy Formulation: Collaborating in the development and updating of the journal's ethical policies and procedures to ensure high ethical standards at all stages of the editorial process.
  • Editorial Conflicts: Authors, journal editors receiving the article, and their reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could influence the manuscript or its review and approval. If authors declare a conflict of interest, it must be reported to the manuscript reviewers. Reviewers invited to review a manuscript must excuse themselves if they have conflicts of interest with the authors or the topic. The journal ensures that the most suitable reviewers are chosen, also in terms of thematic and academic compatibility. In case of controversy, Mentor Revista de Investigación Educativa y Deportiva commits to resolving these cases through its Editorial Board.
