Self-Archiving Policy

MENTOR Revista de Investigación Educativa y Deportiva permits and encourages authors to self-archive their work in order to promote its availability, preservation, visibility, and academic dissemination.

Permitted Versions

Authors may deposit the following versions of their work without an embargo period:

  • Submitted Version / Preprint: the version of the manuscript submitted to MENTOR before the peer-review process.
  • Author Accepted Manuscript: the version incorporating revisions resulting from the editorial and peer-review process that has been accepted for publication, prior to final editorial typesetting.
  • Published Version / Version of Record: the final and official version of the article published by MENTOR.

No embargo period applies to any of these versions.

Deposit Locations

Permitted versions may be deposited in:

  • institutional repositories;
  • subject or disciplinary repositories;
  • open-access repositories;
  • authors’ academic or personal websites; and
  • other academic platforms intended for the deposit and dissemination of scholarly work.

Deposit may take place before, during, or after the editorial process, according to the version concerned.

Identification of the Original Publication

Once a work has been published by MENTOR, authors are encouraged, where possible, to add the bibliographic reference and DOI link to the published article to previously self-archived versions.

Where the published version is deposited, the bibliographic information identifying its original publication in MENTOR Revista de Investigación Educativa y Deportiva must be retained, including the DOI where available.

Deposited versions should not create confusion regarding their publication status. Where applicable, they should be clearly identified as the submitted version, accepted manuscript, or published version.

Articles published by MENTOR are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).

This license governs third-party reuse of the published version and permits copying and redistribution provided that appropriate attribution is given to the authors and original publication, the material is not used for commercial purposes, and modified, adapted, or transformed versions are not distributed.

Self-archiving by the authors does not involve any transfer of copyright.

Authors’ Rights

Authors retain copyright in their works in accordance with MENTOR’s Copyright and Licensing Policy.

Self-archiving does not require additional permission from MENTOR and does not involve any charge to authors.

Publication in MENTOR does not prevent authors from depositing permitted versions of their work in academic or institutional repositories.

No Embargo

MENTOR does not impose an embargo period on self-archiving of the submitted version, accepted manuscript, or published version.

This provision forms part of MENTOR’s commitment to open access and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
