Mental Health and Academic Retention in Nursing Students: Evaluation of a University Support Project

Resumen

La salud mental constituye un componente relevante en la formación de estudiantes de Enfermería debido a las exigencias académicas y clínicas que acompañan su trayectoria universitaria. El objetivo fue analizar la percepción de estudiantes de Enfermería sobre los aportes de un proyecto universitario de salud mental en el afrontamiento socioemocional, el bienestar, la experiencia académica y la permanencia estudiantil. Se desarrolló un estudio mixto, no experimental, transversal y descriptivo con 35 estudiantes. Se aplicó un cuestionario con nueve ítems tipo Likert distribuidos en tres dimensiones y preguntas abiertas, analizadas mediante análisis de contenido. Las valoraciones favorables alcanzaron entre 77,15 % y 80,00 % en la dimensión socioemocional y de afrontamiento; entre 71,43 % y 82,86 % en la académica y de permanencia; y entre 77,14 % y 80,00 % en comunicación e infraestructura. Las respuestas abiertas identificaron cambios percibidos relacionados con organización académica, gestión emocional, búsqueda de apoyo, hábitos de bienestar y relaciones interpersonales. Se concluyó que el proyecto fue valorado favorablemente en las dimensiones evaluadas, aunque los resultados expresan percepciones autorreportadas y no permiten atribuir causalmente los cambios al proyecto.
