Abstract

The teaching of patriotic values in Ecuador faces challenges due to globalization and sociocultural changes, questioning the effectiveness of traditional pedagogical strategies in the current educational context. The objective of the article was to analyze teachers' perceptions and strategies in promoting patriotic values within the Ecuadorian curriculum, identifying challenges and proposing recommendations to improve its teaching in the contemporary context. A qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological approach was used, with semi-structured interviews conducted with 17 teachers from different areas in seven Ecuadorian institutions. The data were analyzed by identifying emerging key dimensions. Traditional strategies are perceived as insufficient, with challenges such as the lack of didactic resources and teacher training. Teachers propose integrating digital technologies and active methodologies to improve the teaching of patriotic values. The conclusion is that it is necessary to develop innovative pedagogical approaches, integrating technologies and active methodologies. Specific teacher training is crucial to implementing strategies that better connect with current student and cultural realities.
