Abstract

This report investigated the use of football as a mechanism for strengthening community empowerment. It examined the role of football in social and community integration. This study analyzed how football-related activities can influence the well-being and integration progress of community members. The methodology used is qualitative, involving interviews and observations with a sample of 50 participants in five different communities. The data reveal that community football programs are an effective way to improve interpersonal relationships, teach teamwork values, and combat social exclusion. The discussion revolves around the importance of these initiatives in vulnerable socioeconomic contexts, and the recommendations lead to the conclusion that, in the same order as the first, it is advisable to promote the development of public policies that strengthen sport as a means of community development.
