Inclusive Methodological Strategies for Students with Intellectual Disabilities in Physical Education Classes

The present study has the objective of the research: To propose inclusive methodological strategies for students with intellectual disabilities in the physical education class. In the research, a qualitative approach was adopted, with a non-experimental design, cross-sectional, and descriptive gnoseological scope, the population consisted of 650 students and 22 teachers from the La Tola Educational Unit, located in the Province of Esmeraldas, Eloy Alfaro Canton, La Tola Parish and the sample consisted of three 16-year-old first-year high school students with intellectual disabilities, in addition to three physical education teachers and three parents. For data collection, direct observation and semi-structured interviews with teachers and parents were used. The results determined the need for strategies to guarantee inclusion and the right to a quality education for all, given the lack of participation of students with ID in all the activities proposed by the teacher in class and the need for teacher guidance and training on the topic.
