Intervenciones para aumentar el conocimiento sobre el Virus de Inmunodeficiencia Humana en adolescentes

The Human Immunodeficiency Virus is one of the major global public health challenges. The literature indicates that during adolescence, there is a lack of education regarding sexually transmitted infections; therefore, educational interventions are essential for improving knowledge and modifying risky behaviors. The objective was to synthesize existing information in the scientific literature regarding interventions aimed at increasing knowledge about HIV among adolescents. A systematic review was conducted following the methodology of Whittemore and Knafl, including randomized controlled trials published in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. The search was conducted in PubMed, Redalyc, SciELO, and Dialnet. A total of 1,782 studies were identified, of which 8 met the inclusion criteria. Most of the studies originated from Nigeria (4) and the United States (2), with interventions predominantly taking place in school settings. The strategies were multi-session, often weekly, and included interactive and audiovisual resources. All showed significant improvements in HIV knowledge with sustained results over time. We conclude that educational interventions targeting adolescents show positive trends in increasing HIV knowledge, risk perception, and the strengthening of preventive skills.
