Effectiveness of plyometric exercises in developing explosive strength in professional soccer players: a systematic review

Abstract

In a sport like soccer, physical condition and the improvement of motor skill are fundamental to achieve optimal performance. Plyometric exercises ate those based on explosive and fast movements, which as a consequence improve the ability to change direction and strength that increase the performance of soccer players. The purpose of this review is to analyze the theoretical basis of plyometrics in the development of explosive strength in soccer players. A systematic review of plyometrics in the development of explosive strength in soccer players. A systematic review was carried out based on the PRISMA protocol, using the following databases: Latindex, Redalyc, Dailnet, SciELO, Science Direct, Web of Science, Google Scholar, the selection process of the documents was using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: of the 16 results included in the review, 93.75% of the studies indicate the effectiveness of plyometric exercises in improving the explosive strength of soccer players. In conclusion, the literature supports the that for soccer players to improve their performance, the application of plyometric exercises is a fundamental system to increase explosive strength.
