Abstract

Jealousy, an underexplored emotional phenomenon, affects organizational climate and professional ethics in Dominican public universities, generating distrust, rivalry, and affecting institutional coexistence. This study aimed to analyze the manifestations and repercussions of workplace jealousy on labor relations, organizational climate, and professional ethics in Dominican public universities. The study used a qualitative, phenomenological-descriptive approach, with semi-structured interviews of 30 university actors from Dominican public universities, and data analysis was conducted through open, axial, and selective coding. Jealousy manifested in three forms: passionate, obsessive, and delirious. It negatively affected the organizational climate, particularly in trust, communication, and collaboration, in addition to compromising professional ethics. It is concluded that jealousy profoundly affects labor relations, organizational climate, and professional ethics in Dominican public universities, creating an environment of distrust, excessive competition, and affecting institutional coexistence.
