Physical activity to prevent overweight in teenagers

Overweight and obesity in adolescents are complex and concerning problems today, due to unhealthy environments and lifestyles. The objective of this research was to synthesize existing information in the scientific literature on the topic and evaluate the importance of physical activity in preventing overweight and obesity in adolescents. A bibliographic analysis was conducted through analytical tracking techniques and document quantification from various search engines. A sample of 353 documents was selected and coded by article title, country of publication, author names and year, objectives, and results. The findings of this research indicate that the lack of physical activity has a significant impact on the increase in weight of adolescents due to the absence of healthy and wholesome lifestyles. Additionally, physical activity was found to be a fundamental strategy in preventing overweight and obesity in adolescents. In conclusion, it is essential to promote healthy lifestyles through physical activity and nutritional education to prevent and control overweight and obesity in adolescents. Therefore, it is recommended that public policies and intervention programs focus on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles from an early age.
