Abstract

Inclusive education ensures the equitable participation of students with intellectual disabilities in Physical Education. Adapted recreational games can improve integration, social interaction, and participation in physical activities. The objective of this research was to determine improvements in the educational inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities, aged 15 to 18, in Physical Education classes. A longitudinal pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest was applied, involving 15 students with intellectual disabilities. Adapted recreational games were implemented, and their impact on inclusion was assessed through observation using validated instruments such as the Inclusion Scale in Physical Education and the Participation in Physical Activities Record. The adapted recreational games enhanced the inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities; the inclusion score increased from 18.95 to 43.84. Greater interaction, participation, and social acceptance were evidenced, along with improvements in autonomy, frequency of participation, and integration in Physical Education. Adapted recreational games fostered the inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities in Physical Education.
